Våldsamma upplopp efter socialtjänstens ingripande

Ett fall där socialtjänsten och barn var inblandade gjorde så att våldsamheter bröt ut i brittiska Leeds på torsdagen. Polisbilar vandaliserades och saker sattes i brand.

Upploppen tros ha orsakats av att socialtjänsten tagit hand om fyra barn från en romsk klan. Många direktsände våldsamheterna på TikTok och Facebook. Polisbilar attackerades medan poliser fanns inuti dessa.

I videoklipp från senare på torsdagskvällen syns hur en dubbeldäckare sätts i brand. Flera vägar stängdes av och allmänheten uppmanades att undvika området.

Kravallpolis sattes sedan in och folkmassorna skingrades. Under natten uppgav West Yorkshire-polisen att man fortsätter insatsen i Harehills-området. Man försäkrar att alla begångna brott kommer att utredas fullständigt och de skyldiga hållas ansvariga.

Inrikesminister Yvette Cooper uppgav att hon var ”förskräckt över de chockerande scenerna” och attackerna mot polisfordon och kollektivtrafik.
